The modern limited liability corporation is a great producer of wealth and has enabled this nation and its people to enjoy a high standard of living. It does not have jobs as its priority indeed jobs are an expense and corporations try to minimise the jobs needed to produce their products. We see this today that corporations are cutting back to save money and are also waiting for clarity in the political process. But as corporations prosper they create more jobs.
Corporations are liable to their board of directors and their stockholders. Employees have no voice until unions represented them. We pride ourselves on having a democratic government but most of us are in a workplace dictatorship where if you do not have a union to represent you, you can be tossed out the door in short order. It is crushing to have your supervisor walk into your workspace and tell you to pick up all your stuff and leave now. This is especially hard on professional employees like engineers and other technical people that have dedicated their lives to their jobs. A lifetime of work can be snuffed out.
