Gambling

Some state and local governments have supported legalized gambling as a way of raising revenue.  This legalized gambling has social costs and economic costs.  I have a friend that lost his wife to a gambling addiction in the legal casinos.  This problem is so bad that there are support groups to help the addicts.  There is also an economic cost.  Books have been written about this problem.  Addiction hurts productivity.  “The only persons that win in the casinos are the owners” – Steve Wynn owner of Wynn resorts.  And the sponsoring governments.  Goverment has no morality.  It only knows how to protect its financial and political interests.   Now some goverments are trying to legalize marajuina and tax it.   See www.drugabuse.gov  about the bad effects.

December 11, 2012    Well now we have Colorado and Washington have legalized Mary in conflict with Federal laws.

  2. Hello, Neat post. There’s a problem with your web site in web explorer, would check this? IE still is the marketplace leader and a big portion of people will miss your excellent writing because of this problem.

    • No I do not want to bring back Prohibition. The casinos can do a better job of monitoring addicts. Bartenders are required to refuse service to drunks. Casinos make it easy to get more money. Talk to your state reps about this.
